Signs Of Abuse – Neglect
Neglect is when a parent or caregiver willingly fails to provide the basic needs for the wellbeing and the development of a child. This can include clothing, nutrition, medical care, and emotional and physical needs.
Let’s have a look at what signs to look for:
Child’s Appearance:Â
- Poor hygiene, dirty hair, body odor
- Clothing could be inappropriate for the weather
- A child could be In need of medical or dental care
Child’s Behavior:Â
- Often tired, no energy, lethargic
- Begs or steals food
- Frequent lateness or absence from school
- Defiant behavior
- Low self esteem
